Saturday in the snow

The first two pictures are taken right outside my front door. The rest were taken on my walkabout.

The weather is definately interesting.Just a week ago and it was mild, now we have snow.Perhaps the fact that the cranes went back south early was a good indicater that cold weather was on the way.Today I could not resist going out for a little walk,in the snow and when it was snowing.

The pictures printed the plod one post, are taken in the area where I live. They show part of the planned route, I shall take with some friends next year.We will also be walking on some of the Pilgrim trail to Compestella, in Spain. This picture is the planned refreshment stop.

Anothet day, thankfully no rain.I was able to go down to the veggie plot, to check for damage. It has ben a bit windy lately.I found that apart from a few tubs, which have been blown around, the wigwams for my beans had fallen down.I repositioned them, stuck them in a little deeper and that was it.
It is still to muddy to do any digging.I cant beleive how warm it is,(14c today),unbelievable, for this time of the year.
I went for a drive and took some pictures of the area.We are lucky to have such good walking and rambling tracks. Not far from here about, 2k away you will find and be able to walk on, some of the Pilgrims trail, that leads to Compostella in Spain

It Has ben a very wet and windy day.I have been out in the car, but had to take a different route into town.It is nice living in the country, but with strong winds and rain, there is a possibility that trees, or branches will come down. Therefore safety first.
I am hoping to go up to our forest tomorrow,I need to see if the wind has brought any of our trees down. That wont be too much of a problem.I am going up there soon with a friend and he is cutting some down, so that we will have wood, for next winter. So if any of our trees have come down they will be easier to cut.
Unfortunately the strong winds and rain are coming from the wrong direction. That meens that my roof will leak.At the moment I am surrounded by pots, buckets and pans, in my bedroom, catching the water,Hey ho.Fortunately none of this water has managed to get into my glass of wine,(strategically placed nearby).

O good news I hope.Have had some problems with the car but it looks like all will be ok now.I definately owe a bottle of Scotch for this
Another day down the veggie plot,I have put the onions and garlic in.Had a little tidy up down there and to prove how strange the weather is,I was able to pick strawberrys.Very strange for November. The weather has been fairly warm again,I have not needed to light the fire till the evening. It is then that it is a little chilly. As the wood burner is my only source of heat, it just makes the house feel warm and cosy.
I think this afternoon will be time for a walk and then back home to bake more bread.Of course I might have to go to the supermarket for some fermented grape juice.Maybe I will take some more pictures today.I think most of the time I have a really good way of life.It is a pity more people cant do the same.

Monday

Today has been a bank holiday here,so no shopping .So I have made some bread, done the laundry and generally been lazy. The weather has been dull, but my woodburner has made the day nice and cheerfull.
Saw and heard the Cranes flying south, to avoid bad weather. That probably means that our mild weather is going to leave us and perhaps the winter is definately on its way.Tommorrow i think will be a day down the veggie plot,or perhaps another walk around the area.On second thoughts i might do both.

These were taken on my little Sunday stroll

It has been a good week,Last Thursday I went out for a 3 hour walk with Claire. It was about 8k but we took lots of pictures of fungi, very interesting. We also spotted lots of rather large chestnuts,so on the Friday we were out with the car collecting as much as possible. They have now been par boiled and are in the deep freezer.
On Tuesday we again went out for a little walk through the woods and forests around here.We noticed that there were more chestnuts and planned to return in the afternoon to pick them. Our walk his time was only about 6k,but still good excersize. For some reason this did not happen, time just seemed to fly by.
On Thursday after Claire had returned to the UK. I went out and collected masses of them. They are also, now in the deep freezer. On Saturday I was out collecting more,it would seem that this year has been a bumper year for them.

Today I thought that a stroll in the country was a good idea. i have taken pictures of the local area and spent a very enjoyable time walking and enjoying the different colours that Autumn had made on the trees.I have to say that it looks like it is going to be a late Autumn and hopefully a short Winter.More oics to follow.
